Bronchial Circulation in Severe Multiple Peripheral Pulmonary Artery Stenosis; Case Report Illustrating the Origin of Continuous Murmur.

چکیده
PERIPHERAL pulmonary artery stenosis is being recognized with increasing frequency.1-3 Several observers4-6 have stressed the presence of a continuous murmur as a diagnostic feature, and continuous murmurs have been experimentally produced by graded constriction of a large branch of the pulmonary artery in dogs.5 This is the case report of an infant with severe multiple peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis in whom a loud, continuous murmur appeared to reflect flow through large, tortuous abnormally originating bronchial arteries rather than through the stenotic pulmonary arteries.

Pulmonary artery stenosis.
SINCE the description by Mbller' in 1953 of stenosis of peripheral pulmonary arteries, this congenital lesion has been recognized with increasing frequency. The lesion is of interest both from a clinical and physiologic standpoint. From the latter standpoint, there is sufficient documentation to warrant the inclusion of this congenital anomaly as one of the causes of right ventricular hypertens...

Introduction: Arterial tortuosity syndrome (ATS), an autosomal recessive rare connective tissue disorder characterized by tortuosity, elongation and stenosis in the large and medium sized arteries. It manifestations include vascular and nonvascular connective tissue related symptoms. In this literature we describe the first cases of ATS from Iran. Case report: A six-months-old female wa...

1. Division of Pulmonology, University Hospital Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland. E-mail: [email protected] A 22-year-old woman presented with hemoptysis and dyspnea (respiratory rate, 38 breaths/min; peripheral oxygen saturation, 81%; pro-brain natriuretic peptide, 2,073 ng/L), together with bilateral inspiratory crackles and a diastolic murmur over the apex. Imaging showed multifocal consolid...
متن کاملContinuous murmur due to the combination of rheumatic mitral stenosis and a rare type of anomalous pulmonary venous drainage.
SUMMARY A patient is described in whom a continuous murmur was caused by the combination of rheumatic mitral stenosis and a rare form of partial anomalous pulmonary venous drainage. In this case, the left superior pulmonary vein drained into the left atrium and also into a large anomalous vein which then drained to the right atrium via the innominate vein and superior vena cava. At surgery, mit...
متن کاملPulmonary atresia or severe stenosis and coronary artery-to-pulmonary artery fistula.
Five patients have had the common features of pulmonary atresia or severe stenosis associated with a septal defect and a coronary artery-to-pulmonary artery (CA-PA) fistula. Four had pulmonary valvular atresia, and one had severe pulmonary stenosis. In all five, the CA-PA fistula contributed the principal component of the pulmonary blood flow. Cyanosis, continuous murmur, right ventricular hype...
